CLOSURE OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN CONSULATE-GENERAL IN MILAN, ITALY

The Consulate-General of the Republic of South Africa in Milan, Italy, regrets to inform you that due to the unavoidable circumstances, it has become necessary for the Government of the Republic of South Africa to restructure and consolidate its diplomatic missions abroad.

The Consulate-General of South Africa in Milan was earmarked as one such mission to close during the calendar year 2021.

With effect from 30 November 2021, all matters pertaining to South Africa’s relationship with the regions of Northern Italy will be conducted through the South African Embassy in Rome.

As communicated to the general public previously, all consular, immigration, and civic services have been handed over to the Embassy in Rome as of 31 October 2021 and all enquiries after this date are to please be directed to the Embassy in Rome to whom all outstanding applications have been transferred. Visas for travel to South Africa will also need to be applied for in Rome.

Immigration and Civic applications will be applied for at the South African Embassy in Rome. All new applications for permits, business, technical, exchange, and study visas will be submitted and processed by the Embassy in Rome on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.

The Government of the Republic of South Africa wishes to reiterate the importance attached to its relationship with the regions of northern Italy and its people, and its interests will continue to be represented in Italy through the South African Embassy in Rome from 15 December 2021.
